About The Good Mourning Society
The Good Mourning Society was created to help bring death and dying back to the communities in which we live. Connecting with our mortality allows us to demystify death, connect with each other, and live the fullest life possible.
Taking care of practical wishes and requirements creates healthy space to deal with grief when the time comes.
Through events, discussions, products, and even parties, The Good Mourning Society is all about getting people to talk about death. Theirs, their loved ones’, deaths in the past, present, and future. Ranging from lighthearted crafting sessions to deep, confronting conversations, we aim to shine a light on the shadowy subject of death.
What The GMS isn’t - We don’t offer therapeutic services, nor are we a grief support group. We have no religious or spiritual affiliation, but we don’t exclude those who do.
We're only just beginning, but this is a mission with big goals. Your support and participation is very welcome, so please get in touch if you're interested in helping!
It's nice to meet you!
My name is Erin, and I'm the founder of The Good Mourning Society. I'm an end-of-life doula with a real passion for advance planning, legacy projects, death positivity - just to name a few. After losing my father and experiencing first hand how difficult the grief process can be without any decisions in place, I felt a genuine calling to help others.
Along the way, I realized how much richer my life had become when I'd started to accept and embrace my mortality.
Also, I am based in the UK but I am American born and raised, so if you catch me switching from "humour" to "humor" that'll be it ;)
